Based on a large number of data

economical development and urban constructive situation of small and medium-sized cities in eastern part of Northwest China are studied by using comparative regression analysis and other methods. It is found that the eco-environmental problems consist mostly of urban soil and water loss

water resources shortage contradictory

insufficient urban g reen space

and local environment pollution. According to the specific circumstances

following countermeasures for the eco-environmental problems are proposed: carrying on the urban planning scientifically

combining characteristic economy with green economy

increasing the proportion of the ecological land

protecting water sources

and distribut ing water resources rationally.
