Meizhou City is a typical mountainous region

frequent and prone area ofgeological disasters in Guangdong Province.The characteristics and influencing factors are analyzed based onthe investigation of geological disasters.Results show that the fragile geological environment is the base ofthe geological hazards

while heavy rainfall is the main induction factor of geological disasters and human engineering activities are the main factors which aggravate the geological hazards.In view of the disaster distribution and the economic development of Meizhou City

geological hazard control is comprehensively planned

and susceptibility zoning is completed.Meizhou City is divided into the key prevention region

secondary prevention region and general prevention region.Based on prediction

prospection and dynamic

the preventionplanning is divided into short-term

medium-term and long-term planning.Finally

the main measures andrecommendations are put forward for the prevention and control of geological disasters

such as gradually establishing ageological disaster monitoring and forecasting system

improving the ability of disaster prevention and reduction

implementing geological disaster prevention responsibility system

and establishing engineering and biological measures combining the management mode.
