摘要

1985年6月12日凌晨3点45分至4点20分

湖北省秭归县新滩镇北岸黄崖地区发生一起严重的堆积层滑动。约3

000万立方米的土石在35分钟内向西南方向滑移

约500万立方米的土石从380米高处剪出

直冲新滩镇。冲入江中约200万立方米

使东西平均400米宽

南北1

700米长

约0.68平方公里内的新滩镇

计有房屋457户、780多亩农田和公路等建筑物破坏罄尽

荡然无存。冲入江中的土石

使江面缩小1/3

激起涌浪高54米

波及上至秭归县城

下至三斗坪共计42公里的江段

击毁、击沉240匹马力以下的机动船13艘

木船64只

船上人员死亡10人

失踪2人。滑坡区内

有居民481户

各类人员共1

371人

由于预报及时

撤离措施果断

无一人伤亡

实属罕见。
