a general picture of remote sensing c.nd GIS application in soil and water conservation is presented.Remote sensing can supply abandunt information for dynamic analysis of soil erosion.and shorten the period of data processing greately.GIS can integrate and process varied kind
of data related to all factors of soil erosion.Based on multilevel remotely sensed data and geographical information system.the studies of momtormg.have made and management information system of soil and water loss in loess plateau region some meaningful progresses in establishing the monitoring network of soil and water loss throughout the country.
