“4D”技术是指DEM (数字高程模型)、DOQ(数字正射影像图)、DRG(数字栅格图)、DLG或DTI(数字专题图)4种地学数字处理技术及其产品。在数据结构上

“4D”技术以栅格结构为主、兼容矢量数据

从根本上突破了传统的以矢量数据为主体的GIS数据结构的束缚;在表现形式上

它通过系列数字产品满足用户的不同需求

为3S集成提供了最佳技术手段和途径

是当代遥感与GIS技术结合生成的数字化产品基本模式

被称为是90年代水平的遥感和GIS集成技术。
